The Young Lawyers Committee of the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and the FCBA Foundation will hold their 21st Annual Charity Auction on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sphinx Ballroom at the Almas Temple, 1315 K Street, NW, Washington, D.C., from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Proceeds from this year’s Charity Auction will benefit Project Wait No Longer (Project WNL) and the FCBA Foundation. Project WNL is a groundbreaking non-profit program that seeks to place foster children ages 6-17 with a “forever family,” providing the love, nurturing and stability that these often forgotten and neglected children so desperately need. Project WNL, run by the local non-profit organization The Barker Foundation, will use the Charity Auction proceeds to expand and strengthen its mission to find permanent, adoptive homes for older foster children in the Washington, D.C. area. The FCBA Foundation will use proceeds from the Charity Auction to support its annual scholarship and internship program.

The Charity Auction is one of Washington, D.C.’s premier “must-attend” events for the communications industry. The event features a live auction, silent auctions, and raffle drawings. Attendees should expect fun surprises and many new and exciting prizes to mark our 21st year, including vacation packages; electronics; tickets to Verizon Center events, concerts, theater shows, and various sporting events (including Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, and Nationals games); dinners, lunches, spa packages, and gift certificates from area businesses.

Over the past 20 years, the Charity Auction has raised more than $1,000,000 for D.C.-based organizations, including Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care, Inc., the D.C. Children’s Advocacy Center, STEP/I Have a Dream, the Charitable Coalition for Children with Cancer, Kids Enjoy Exercise Now, Fair Chance, Kid Power-DC, Horton’s Kids, and Bright Beginnings.
