Clariza Lazo is a graduating senior from Bell Multicultural High School (CHEC) and will attend Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, where she plans to study Business Administration. She is a first-generation college student and is originally from El Salvador and came to the United States in 2016. During her time at Bell, Clariza has held different positions in different activities, which have helped her develop some of the necessary skills to become a leading Latina woman in the business world. She has served as the president of the CHEC FBLA, secretary of the National Honor Society, and senior officer of the CHEC Hospitality Academy. Outside of school, she loves playing softball and serving the community. She has completed more than 150 community service hours at local organizations. At Sacred Heart Church, she cooked and gave food to the homeless. She also tutored her peers who were struggling with English after-school through a program called Avance. She participated in the GALA Hispanic Theater, where she created and performed plays in Spanish and discovered her love of writing. Clariza’s dream is to merge her college education with her creativity to create a non-profit arts organization that uses writing and performance to build bridges between students across lines of difference. She also wishes to break the barriers and inequalities that all women encounter in the business world.
