Nia Matthews-Cox is a graduating senior from Washington Latin PCS. She will be attending Brown University in the fall with a double concentration in Classics and International Relations, and a minor in French. She intends to use these skills and pursue a career in the State Department. Throughout her high school career, Nia devoted herself to her classical studies and extracurriculars. In her sophomore year, she was awarded the Paideia Scholarship to study spoken Latin in Rome. She received a certificate of honorable merit, “Maxima Cum Laude”, for her performance on the National Latin exam. Her high school extracurriculars include co-leading Black Lives Matter Club, for which she received a merit award her junior year, peer tutoring, and participating in girls’ varsity athletics. She considers her greatest accomplishment to be her participation in CISV, a non-profit organization that creates global friendships among teens through international camps and cooperation.
